InfoNELSON, Arthur Emanuel, a Senator from Minnesota; born in Browns Valley, Traverse County, Minn., May 10, 1892; attended the public schools, Macalester College, St. Paul, Minn., 1910-1912, and St. Paul College of Law 1912-1915; admitted to the Minnesota bar in 1915 and the Illinois bar in 1939; commenced practice in St. Paul, Minn.; during the First World War enlisted as a private, Heavy Artillery, and served from August to November 1918; corporation counsel of St. Paul, Minn., 1920-1922; mayor of St. Paul 1922-1926; unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate in 1928; elected as a Republican to the United States Senate on November 3, 1942, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Ernest Lundeen and served from November 18, 1942, to January 3, 1943; was not a candidate for election to the full term; practiced law in St. Paul, Minn., and Chicago, Ill.; died in Chicago, Ill., April 11, 1955; interment in Oakland Cemetery, St. Paul, Minn.
