InfoGeorge Cavender was an important labor leader in Colorado in the mid-19th entury. He was President of the Colorado Federation of Labor, AFL for a number of years and he was a Colorado delegate to Democratic National Convention in 1952, 1956, and 1960. Mayor Quigg Newton appointed him to the Denver City Council in 1948. In 1959, Cavender ran for mayor on the Democratic ticket and lost. He was Denver Postmaster in the 1960s.
