| Info | Daniel R. Lucy was born in Ireland in August 1865 and came to the US in 1882. He began practicing in Denver in 1896, opening an office at West 35th & Navajo Streets. He specialized in family medicine and obstetrics. He was a community activist and was elected to 4 terms on the City Council. In 1923, Dr. Lucy was charged with second degree murder when a patient died of septicemia following an abortion he performed. Lucy's only comment to the press was that he was not surprised, that this was what he had expected from the coroner's jury. He was later acquitted of the charges.
