InfoActivism and organizing are part of my roots in Southside Virginia. I've been involved in it for many years organizing rallies, campaigns, and protest. Being able to use my voice to speak truth to power is critical in my mission to bring widespread change to the people of the Southside Virginia. Better wages, healthcare for all, better education, a fair justice system, climate justice, and more. The goal is to build a sustainable movement to revolutionize the political process in the southside. This change requires action on all fronts, from the streets to the ballot box. It's past time that the poor and working poor have an advocate in the halls of government. Goods and services continue to rise wages remain stagnant. Poverty is higher than the rest of the state in the southside and while the unemployment rate is low, people have to work multiple jobs to barely make it week to week. We can't have a good economy when so many are economically depressed. The workers of Southside Virginia deserve better for themselves and their families. All work, whether you are flipping burgers, flipping through test papers, or flipping over patients all worker whether you punch a clock or work for yourself is dignified and bureaucrats shouldn't be able to lessen your worth by mandating poverty wages for the state. Neither should they make it impossible for local governments to raise their wages through the century-old Dillon Rule. The people in their own communities should be able to decide what's best for them at home and those on the state level of government should be advancing the social welfare of the people.
