InfoMarivuana Leinoff was born Deborah Elain Stout on July 23, 1954, at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Noel & Loetta (Bandy) Stout during a road trip to visit her future grandparents.
...
Marivuana, who quit high school after completing the 10th grade in West Plains, Missouri is a graduate of Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (major in accounting) in 1986 and has 16 years of accounting experience with 10 years in healthcare.

The first 20 years.

Marivuana grew up the granddaughter of sharecroppers from the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. As a young child she picked cotton on her grandparents farm in Arkansas, which was an experience she would never forget.
...
Marivuana learned how to swim at the age of 32. She attended public school, but she had to keep herself separate. Her parents also believe education takes you away from God, so all of their children were instructed to quit high school as soon as the state minimum requirements were honored, which she did.

Respect for the earth was a major part of the first 20 years of her life.
...
Marivuana married Wayne Dillon a native of Nashville, Tennessee, in Beaumont, Texas in 1973 at the age of 19.
...
Marivuana lived with domestic violence for 19 years.

Several reasons justified her accepting the abuse. The first was her Christian belief that God would not put anything on her she could not bare. The second her vow to God and her husband in the wedding ceremony that she would love him for better or worse. Vows to God were not to be broken. The third reason, her strong sense of family and wanting to keep her home together for her two children. The last major reason was realizing domestic violence came out of (mental) illness and you do not just throw away human beings because they are ill.

At the age of 27, Marivuana passed a GED test in Beaumont, Texas and enrolled at Lamar University. Scared, alone, and very frightened she took the first steps in overcoming being a victim. Little did she know that it would be a full 23 years before she would over come being a victim.

Marivuana realized she had to take personal responsibility for her decision to remain a victim for 19 years. In 1992, Marivuana left her family in search of saving herself and her two children. In 1994 Marivuana finally obtained a divorce.

The third 20 years.

Marivuana found refuge in the home of family friend, William Hester (Billy).
...
Having led a very sheltered life, without even being aware of it, Marivuana had gone from the frying pan into the fire.

Marivuana was at the Nashville Domestic Violence office, the first week it opened. During the course of the next 4 years, she would file complaints, get orders of protection, even moving out of her own home into an apartment close to police station downtown Nashville trying to get help with her situation. No one would help.

She attended the first annual domestic violence walk in Nashville.
...
After the walk, Marivuana shook Vice President Gore's hand after he gave a short speech at Legislative Plaza on domestic violence.

This was a coming out of the closet for Marivuana. She was telling the world, I have been a victim of violence, but not any more!
...
Marivuana became involved with the marihuana issue because of Billy Hester.
...
Marivuana believed she was an intelligent person capable of making her own mind up on any issue, and would not fall prey to propaganda.
...
The next day, Marivuana was in total disbelief at the discrepancy between the government's action on drugs for the user (a non-criminal activity) and domestic violence (a criminal activity).

Marivuana met Howie Leinoff (Jan 98), a recording artist activist from Long Island, after moving into the apartment close to the police department. She knew Howie only 6 months when the suicide (June 19, 1998) happened in her home. Howie would not abandon her. He nurtured Marivuana and used the time to educate Marivuana about the history of marihuana and hemp.

She battled severe depression after Billy's suicide. Her family and friends abandoned her. By their very actions, she just knew no one cared, but there must have been some reason for her experiencing all the trauma in her life.

An activist was born.

Marivuana found her dharma, doing her part to help end the civil war on U.S. citizens (drugs).
