| Info | I’m Chris Mayfield and I’m a veteran, father, experienced leader, and your candidate for the House of Delegates representative in the 96th District.
I am running because I believe opportunities transform lives and communities. I was raised by a single mom who worked two jobs just to keep food on the table. Often, we had to rely on public assistance to survive. My mother’s sacrifices came with a huge emotional and physical cost and I was determined to create a different life for myself and my family. I joined the military and served on active duty while pursuing a college degree at night. I retired as an officer in the Marine Corps and went on to build a successful career in both the public and private sectors. At every crucial point in my life there were people and opportunities that shaped who I became.
I know what it means to persevere and push through challenges. I want to lead you in a change for the people of the 96th district in the Virginia House of Delegates. I am running to be your Delegate, protecting and nourishing the kind of community-minded support that allowed a scruffy little kid from Oklahoma to be healthy, well-educated and able to pursue a career of service to our country. My upbringing and life experience in remote places around the world, including dangerous places, led to my commitment to give back some of what I received.

That all of us have health care - our right as Americans and an essential ingredient for a healthy Virginia economy.
That we respect women’s rights - including ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment and ensuring that women have the right to make their own health care decisions.
That we protect our voting rights as Americans - essential to our democracy including the drawing of fair voting district lines so that we pick our representatives in government.
In the days ahead, I hope you’ll join me in making changes for the people of the 96th district. I will have more to say about my ideas on these and other issues, but I especially want to hear what’s important to you.
It’s time for a change in the 96th and I want to help lead that change. For the people, for a change.
