InfoFamily First
As the youngest of seven children to Irish immigrant parents, the most valuable lessons I learned in life were often taught within the four walls of my childhood home. Treat others as you wanted to be treated was the Golden Rule we adhered too and what our family continues to honor to this day. Our parents set an example by showcasing a relentless work ethic and attention to detail that inspires each of my siblings to continuously evolve and fuels the desire to reach my full potential as a member of our community.

45th Ward Roots
Attending Saint Tarcissus grammar school and becoming a part of the "Raider Nation" only helped to solidify the pride I possess in our neighborhood. The academic, athletic and social skills that were taught by teachers, coaches and alumni is what eventually motivated me to pursue a career as an educator.

Pay It Forward
After graduating from Notre Dame High School, I pursued my teaching degree on the south side of Chicago at Saint Xavier University where I graduated in 2002. Seeing the disparity and needs of various south side neighborhoods, I felt compelled to not only teach and coach within the schools most in need, but also live in those very same neighborhoods to help make a deeper and more personal connection with students.

Proud Union Member
At the age of 18, I followed in my father's footsteps and became a Local 1 Ironworker. I spent the following two years as a Local 399 Stationary Engineer before deciding to enroll in college and dedicate my life to serving others as a union teacher and firefighter.

Service to our City
I began public service in the Chicago Park District at Gladstone and Merrimac Parks. Upon graduating college and with a passion to do more for the people of our city, I decided to work with the most at-risk students by becoming a Special Education teacher at Curie High School on the south side of Chicago. In 2005, the opportunity to serve our city as a Chicago Firefighter/EMT on Truck 26 in the West Garfield Park area was gladly welcomed, and where I proudly served the residents of that neighborhood for the past 13 years. I was recently promoted to the rank of Engineer/EMT and now I am able to serve my own community.

At home in the 45th
In 2006, I decided to come back to my roots and purchased a home on the very same block I grew up on. Despite working as a Chicago Firefighter, I still possess a desire to serve the youth of our area by teaching, coaching and mentoring students at Taft and Schurz High Schools. Although I cherish the opportunity to perform both jobs simultaneously, my concern for our community has taken precedence and thus prompted my decision to run for office as Alderman of the 45th Ward.

The blatant disconnect between our current leadership and constituents is alarming and troubles me on many levels. I believe a change in leadership is needed if we want to create a more harmonious and productive environment. As a leader within our community for many years, I am confident standing up to build a better community for our families. As a 40 year resident of this ward, I understand the needs of our community and will make them my highest priority.
