InfoNancy Cassis is the proven, principled conservative running in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District. She is a tireless advocate for taxpayers, small business and families.

The Michigan Information & Research Service (MIRS) has recognized her as one of the most conservative members of the Michigan Legislature, and she received a 100% ranking from NFIB in 2010. She was also awarded the “Champion of Commerce” award by the Michigan Chamber of Commerce.

During her time in the Legislature, Nancy worked to create jobs, sharpen Michigan’s competitive edge by authoring legislation to eliminate the Single Business Tax, cut in half the state’s tax penalty on employer-funded health benefits and keep manufacturing businesses in Michigan by allowing a personal property tax exemption for special tools. Additionally, she worked to simplify the tax code and reduce the state’s income tax from 4.4 to 3.9 percent, taking it to the lowest level in a quarter of a century.

She helped create thousands of new jobs by sponsoring language in legislation resulting in two new hospitals being built in the growing communities of Novi – Providence Park Hospital and West Bloomfield – Henry Ford Hospital.

Nancy earned a bachelor’s degree with highest honors from Ohio University in 1966, a master’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1979, and an education specialist degree, also from U of M, in 1980.

Prior to her election to the state Senate, she served six years in the House of Representatives. Nancy also has experience in local government – she served as councilwoman for the city of Novi from 1985-93 and from 1995-96.

Nancy Cassis is an experienced educator, working as a school psychologist for the Novi Community Schools from 1980-96, and she taught in Cleveland for the Ohio Public Schools from 1966-68.

Nancy and her husband Victor, have seven children and eleven grandchildren and are members of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Livonia, Michigan. She has lived in Livonia, Wayne County and Novi, Oakland County.
