Recognized authority on metals; sent to South Africa during World War I to test gold quartz. Active in Colorado public life, as State Insurance Commissioner, 1915; Private Secretary to Governor Shoup, 1919; served as Director and Secretary of State Historical Society, 1925-1927; President, Colorado Prison Association, 1909-1920; State Budget and Efficiency Commissioner, 1919-1921.
