| Info | Dave Hutchinson, or “Hutch,” is a 15-year law enforcement and public safety professional. Since 2006, he has served with the Metro Transit Police Department. He currently holds the position of sergeant, working on the north side of Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs. He also supervises the Peer Support Program, Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), and Community Engagement Team. Before joining Metro Transit, Hutch worked as a Police Officer in Bayport, a small community with a population of just over 3,000 people.
Hutch put himself through college working in the building trades and graduated from Alexandria Technical & Community College with a degree in Law Enforcement. He continued his education at Saint Cloud State University and is currently enrolled at Metropolitan (Metro) State University.
In addition, Hutch has completed advanced training, including:
Supervision and Management Certificate Program, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension
Senior Management Certificate Program, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension
Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, Federal Bureau of Investigation
Public safety and service is a proud tradition in Hutch’s family. His father, now retired, was a police officer for 30 years. His mother was a customer service manager at a major airline. Today, Hutch lives in Bloomington with his husband Justin and their dog Nike. He enjoys spending time with family and riding his Harley.
