| Info | Mr. Hertzberg grew up in Sparta, and started his professional career working for the Department of Justice. He spent time working in Border Patrol, the DEA, and then in Homeland Security in various positions and locations across the country. After taking an early retirement from the U.S. Government, he went to work at Port Newark as a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association for Maher Terminals. He currently manages the office for ILA local 1804-1, and is the Director of Business Operations for the International offices of the ILA.
He says, “It was an honor to serve my country in the capacity that I did, and I am now honored to serve the hard working men and women of the ILA. As the Mayor of Sparta I got to serve my local community and give a back to the township of Sparta which gave so much to me. But by far my most important title is that of husband and father. I look forward to serving the families of Sussex County in my new role as Freeholder.”
