InfoRaymond Lee Davis was born on July 22, 1964 in Kalamazoo, MI. At three days old, he was given to his great uncle and aunt, the late Frank and Helen Sherrod and was raised in Jackson, MI. (Jackson, MI is the birthplace of the Republican Party and will be 150 years old on July 6, 2004 along with our President, the Honorable George W. Bush who will turn 58 years old on July 6, 2004)

His mother was quite ill, on welfare, and Raymond was the eighth child of ten and decided to let her uncle and aunt raise him as their own. (By the way Momma, Verna Fry, thanks for still being my mother and the love and continued prayers that you still have for me today).

Da Da and Bigma were the only parents that Raymond had ever known. They were elderly but Raymond never wanted for anything. At a very young age, he was disciplined and church became a big part of his life. Even though Da Da could not read or write, he owned his own business, which included trucks, landscaping and snow removal equipment and was a respected businessman in the city. Mr. Sherrod also taught Raymond valuable lessons at a young age. One day when Raymond was only five years old, he sat him down in the truck and handed him a dollar bill. He told him, boy if I am not living when you grow up to be a man, always keep a dollar in you pocket and nothing is free and always work hard. Da Da passed away when Raymond was seven and Bigma passed away when Raymond was twelve. As a youngster Raymond attend Helmer, Lincoln and Dibble elementary schools.

Raymonds passion for politics began at an early age. As he went on to Jr. High School at Frost and Hunt, thats when his political career actually began, although at eight years old after a field trip to Washington, D.C., he toured the White House and became interested in who the President of the United States was at the time and how the political process really worked even though some things he already had learned at school. During that period of time, former President Richard Millhouse Nixon occupied 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. He learned about the war in Vietnam and that President Nixon was who finally ended one of the only wars in U.S. history where so many troops had lost their lives and brought many wounded soldiers home. Raymond began to study politics and even recalls the Watergate scandal that forced President Nixon to resign on August 8, 1974. Raymond attended two different Jr. High Schools because of the death of his great Aunt. At that time Raymond went to live with the Sherrods daughter Lanthia Brown, who continued to raise Raymond and he loved and cherished her as his mother until she passed away on March 28, 2002.

Prominent Pastor, County Commissioner, and father of gospel recording artist and author Babbie Mason, the Late G.W. Wade, baptized Raymond on August 10, 1975 at Lily Missionary Baptist Church. Raymond grew up at 303 E. Robinson Street, two doors down from Tony Dungy, who is now Head Football Coach of the Indianapolis Colts and former head Coach of Tampa Bay and former player with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Raymond attended Jackson High School from 1979 to 1981 where he was very involved in student activities and was President of his freshman and sophomore class and ran for President of the Student Body in his junior year. Raymonds passion at politics grew more intense as the years passed by and learned as much U.S. History and World History as a young man could, while dealing with peer pressure.

In 1981 at the age of 17, Raymond moved to Atlanta with his cousin and her children. Raymond never finished high school but remembered the things that were taught to him at an early age. Raymond did get a G.E.D. and go on to college. He worked at Mrs. Winners making minimum wage, which was about $2.35 in 1981. From there he was given an opportunity to work at the Atlanta Journal Constitution in 1985. In 1988, Raymond was hired by Equifax, Inc. and retired in 1995 as a Senior JCL Specialist with Equifax Credit Marketing Services, Inc. Raymond attended Devry Institute of Technology from 1988 to 1990, majoring in Information Systems.

In Atlanta, Raymond first became a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Timothy Flemming, Sr., Senior Pastor for 12 years and was marketing director of God Strength Records, Inc.: an Atlanta based Gospel label and co-founder of a Mens Spiritual Group called Brothers United in Christ (BUCs) at Mt. Carmel with the late Minister Aric B. Flemming.

In 1994, Raymond founded and became CEO of a God given ministry called Genesis AIDS Ministry, Inc. and joined New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of his earthly father world renown Bishop Eddie L. Long, D.D., D.H.L., Senior Pastor. Genesis then became a part of the Outreach and Pastoral Care. New Birth Cathedral, now in Lithonia, GA, has a membership of over 28,000 members. The non-profit, community based organization, started with over 100 volunteers, learning about HIV/AIDS as they begin to minister and help many people affected or infected by HIV/AIDS in the metro Atlanta area, throughout the State of Georgia, and across the entire United States of America each year cope with this disease through counseling and pastoral care. Davis serves as a still serves from time to time as a consultant at New Birth. Bishop Long is still a great influence and Spiritual mentor in the Raymonds ministry. He is currently a member and **Minister in Training (MIT) at New Mercies Christian Church, Jesse Curney, III, Senior Pastor and Raymonds Spiritual Father in the ministry, working with the Outreach, Evangelism, Medical and Healing Ministries.

Raymonds first political race was in 1997 against Michael Julian Bond for Atlanta City Council District #3. Davis ran again for office in 1998 for the Georgia State Senate, District #38 against incumbent Ralph David Abernathy III. In 2002, Davis, who has been a Republican all his life, ran for DeKalb County Commissioner, District #7, Super Seat against Lou Walker, which is the largest District in DeKalb County and has over 400,000 residents. Minister set a record by picking up over 20% or 17,000 votes in a predominately Democratic Black County, the second wealthiest in America.

Davis is currently Founder, Chairman/CEO of the Genesis Network and Counseling Center, Inc., a 501c(3) non-profit organization. This organization is a full serviced AIDS Service Organization (ASO) and Community Based Organization (CBO) that became into existence from Genesis AIDS Ministry, Inc. The name was changed and became independent from the church. Raymond is a Pioneer in the fight against HIV and AIDS and has worked for almost two decades with the black communities and churches throughout the Country dealing with HIV and AIDS. Raymond is the first American in the United States to run for Congress who has publicly acknowledged that has AIDS, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He is currently enrolled at Carver Bible College to begin in March 2004, majoring in Theology.

Davis served on the Mayors Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, City of Atlanta, from 1994 to 1998. He is member lifetime member of the NAACP, SCLC and in 1999-present he became a member of the Metropolitan Atlanta HIV Health Services Planning Council under Ryan White Title I Program, (which serves a 22 county region). Davis is a member of the NRA, serves as National President of The National Coalition of African Americans in Action Against AIDS, Inc. (The NC5A), Chairman, The International Faith HIV/AIDS Coalition, Inc., Chairman, The National HIV/AIDS Awareness and Education Campaign, Inc., The National Faith HIV/AIDS Awareness and Education Campaign, Inc., and in the process of forming Americas first coalition involving Christians in Spiritual Warfare in the Fight Against HIV/AIDS called The National Christian AIDS Coalition, Inc. (NCAC). Davis is also National Chairman of the AID U.S. (The United States of America) In A Miracle Campaign/Foundation/Institute, Inc.

Davis sits on many other boards as a spokesman, which includes Abbott Laboratories National Diversity AIDS Council and others dealing with Health and Human Rights. Georgia elected officials regularly call on him for advice when it comes to setting policy and laws for AIDS victims and the African American Communities and Churches. Minister Davis has finished his autobiography, entitled, When Death Appears At Midnight, The Raymond L. Davis Story, subtitled Im Free, and the Truth will Make you Free. to be released in March 2004. This is a bio; get the book, as Paul Harvey would say, for the rest of the story. All proceeds from the book will go to the AID U.S. (The United States of America) In A Miracle Foundation, Inc., a foundation organized to continue in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the United States.

In closing, Raymond is proud to be a Republican. He states John 8:32 reads, and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Most bios dont give out this much info, especially when a candidate is running for office. But Raymond believes as a public servant, it is better to get everything out in the open and then you wont be subject to rumors and persecution from other candidates or parties. As a moderate and sometimes conservative, Raymond is an Advocate for CHANGE and Georgias New Vision, who believes it is time that minorities (especially Black America) take an opportunity and learn about the GOP, besides being always courted and sometimes misconceived about the Democratic Party. Raymond agrees with our President, the Honorable George W. Bush on many issues and states, lets get back to the basics and what this country was founded upon, especially family and moral beliefs.

There is only one way to succeed and get what you want out of life. WORK HARD FOR IT! Many Americans today think that it is impossible to receive their American dream(s). Raymond has personally encouraged many people to continue to keep the faith and do what is right and you can do whatever you want in life. Raymond has shown great compassion and leadership skills over the years and believes that all men are created equal. He has benefited so much as an American and continues to thank God for these opportunities to help the people in Georgia and the Nation. Our Country is great and Raymond Davis would like to represent Georgias Fourth District as your next Republican Congressman in the United States House of Representatives.
