Info | Austin's love of the outdoors began early in life as a result of hours spent playing in the woods in the small timber town where she was raised. As a kid, Austin would tag along with her parents as they organized community events, fostering her desire to serve. Prior to her position on the Assembly, Austin served on the Municipality's Budget Advisory and Women's Commissions and on YWCA's finance committee. She was also a big sister to a teenager at McLaughlin Youth Center through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Austin currently works as the Legal Affairs & Land Transactions Director for Great Land Trust, where she leads projects that create trails and public access points throughout Southcentral Alaska. She and her wife, Stephanie, have two dogs and one cat and enjoy spending time hiking and gardening. Since she was a teenager, Austin has followed the motto that “the purpose of life is a life of purpose." She strives to always be courageous and act with integrity.
