| Info | Tasha Boerner is a fourth-generation Encinitan, State Assemblymember, businesswoman, community leader and a mother. Tasha is running for re-election to the California State Assembly to fight for sustainability, opportunity and equity for our San Diego County coastal communities.
STATE ASSEMBLYMEMBER: Tasha took office in December 2018, after running a strong, grassroots campaign fueled by hard work, listening to residents and experience serving on the Encinitas City Council. On the Council she served on a number of local and regional boards and committees including San Diego Association of Government and the League of California Cities Housing, Community and Economic Development Policy Committee. Before her election to the Council, Tasha served on the Encinitas Planning Commission, balancing the need for affordable housing with preserving community character.
BUSINESSWOMAN: Tasha’s professional experience in Marketing Communications focuses on tackling tough problems with strategic vision and pragmatic action for non-profits, small businesses, global Fortune 500 companies, and higher education institutions. She has consulted for a public-private partnership with the World Health Organization to eradicate neglected diseases in over 83 countries; supported capital campaigns to educate sustainable development entrepreneurs across Latin America; collaborated with international technology giants like Apple and Google for Deutsche Telekom; and led an international marketing team in the higher education sector.
COMMUNITY LEADER: Tasha volunteered on the Paul Ecke Central PTA Board, where she was VP of Programs and Head of the Traffic and Safety Committee, leading the collaborative community group that successfully advocated for safer streets, improved traffic flow and better infrastructure for everyone in the neighborhood. In early 2016 she also started a city-wide safe routes initiative bringing the schools, districts and the City together to improve traffic congestion and increase walking and biking to schools.
MOTHER: Tasha lived in Europe for 12 years, and her two children were born there. They are a bilingual family and speak German and English at home.
Tasha earned a M.A. in International Studies from Claremont Graduate University Institute of Politics and Policy. Part of Tasha’s graduate work was done at Humboldt University of Berlin. She received her B.A. in Political Science in 1995 from the University of California, Berkeley, the #1 public university in the world. Go Bears!
