InfoAccountability

Government should be open and transparent, and elected officials need to be held to high ethical standards. I support ethics reforms that provide a legal way to remove and replace elected officials at any level who have abused the public trust.

Transportation

A comprehensive transit network across all of metro Atlanta, would mean shorter and less-expensive commutes and better access to workcenters. We can no longer pave our way out of the horrible traffic situation that threatens to choke economic growth. I would support an “all-of- the-above” solution that included buses, rail, bus rapid transit, flex lanes, variable pricing lanes and even tolled roads if absolutely necessary. A regional transit governance commission or authority would relieve the burden of MARTA taxes that falls exclusively on DeKalb and Fulton taxpayers.

Education

Public schools should receive funding sufficient to deliver excellent

educations to our children, in order that students can become earners who support

themselves and contribute to society. I believe that the best way to do that is to pay

teachers more, and to pay those teachers with extraordinary results bonuses. (and

that the supplemental pay should go from the State directly to teachers and student-

facing staff, NOT to central office bureaucracies. We should protect the HOPE

scholarship funds to ensure that Georgians will have access to our colleges and

technical training opportunities.

Gun Ownership

I support the Second Amendment and urge every Georgian to become familiar with basic firearm safety procedures.

Healthcare / health insurance

I do not believe healthcare is a right, but it is a necessity. Georgia should encourage the insurance industry to innovate and develop as many products as possible in order to give individuals in Georgia options for access to healthcare.

Automobile insurance

I believe that Georgians have suffered for too long at the hands of an insurance industry that’s been given too much leeway by the legislature, and would support efforts to restore the authority of the Commissioner of Insurance to approve or deny rate increases.

ABORTION

I am pro-life, but also pro-forgiveness, and I don’t condemn anyone who has had an abortion. I would only seek to provide measures and support that would prevent unwanted pregnancies from occurring, and enhance opportunities for adoption.
