Info | I was born and raised in Adel, Georgia, I live in Brooks County, and have lived and worked in South Georgia all of my life. As the daughter of factory workers and the granddaughter of sharecroppers, I understand the value of hard work and a good education. After graduating from the Cook County School System, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from Valdosta State University, and then enlisted in the U.S. Army where I served as a medic in the 703rd Main Support Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart.
With an honorable discharge from the Army, I later pursued a master’s degree from Troy University. In 2016, I received my Doctorate in Adult and Career Education from Valdosta State and had the honor of being awarded the Doctoral Student of the Year. Currently, I serve as Lowndes High School’s first Instructional Coach where I provide and facilitate professional learning, instructional support, and individual coaching to over 175 teachers and staff.
As an educator I know, first hand, that the challenges I help teachers resolve in the classroom reflect the hardships that too many in our community face every day. While holding down full-time jobs, hard-working citizens in District 8 still struggle to make ends meet. Our educators, healthcare workers, farmers, and small business owners deserve a leader who values their important contributions. Our young people need a leader who is focused on supporting them from the cradle to career.
I am running for Georgia Senate District 8 because you deserve a strong advocate at the State Capitol, an informed leader who is dedicated to serving everyone in South Georgia. As an Army veteran, the seven values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage that guided my service to our country are instilled as guiding principles in the decisions I make every day. As your next Senator, I will continue to uphold these values as I serve you at the Capitol. There is a better future waiting for everyone in Senate District 8 on November 3rd .
