Info | John Harris is serving his second term as a member of the Linn County Board of Supervisors. John currently represents District 5.
John’s priorities as a member of the Board of Supervisors are improving the secondary road system, encouraging business growth, helping our veterans who could use a "hand up" and being a good steward of the taxes paid by our citizens.
In his role as Supervisor, John serves on the boards for Hawkeye Downs, the East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG), the Heritage Agency on Aging, the Local Homeless Coordinating Board, and the Transportation Policy Committee. He is also the past Chairman of the Housing Fund for Linn County and serves as a county legislative liaison to Iowa's General Assembly.
Previously, John served as a member of the city council in Palo for 10 years before being elected Palo’s mayor, an office he held for four years. In addition, John worked at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for 38 years, most recently as Manager of the Contract Department in Commercial Systems.
John, a Linn County native, has been married to his wife Phyllis for 38 years. They have four daughters, Heather, Laura, Anna and Ellen, and four grandchildren, Harrison, Zoey, Madeline and River.
