InfoCaine Cortellino was born and raised in Georgia with family roots that run deep from Jefferson to Savannah. His early years were shaped by his father Frank, a phone company employee and CWA member, who instilled in him the values of hard work and empowerment. No less were Caine’s ethics and ideals formed through his mother Sydney, a pediatric nurse and the daughter of Calimease Waddell, a truck driver and Teamster from Jackson County.

Caine is the proud product of public schools in a community that recognized the significance of investing in its children’s futures. The importance of volunteerism and public service were also underscored for Caine through his activities in hospitals and after school programs for impoverished youth, as well as with a U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Search and Rescue unit that locates crashed civilian aircraft in the North Georgia Mountains.

As the Founder/President of C. Anthony Cortellino & Associates, a legislative advocacy firm that represents clients before the U.S. Congress and the White House, Caine built a company that allows those typically left out of the fray in federal politics to achieve a voice. Caine focused the firm on issues related to public education, alternative energy, environment, economic development, transportation and poorer municipalities—including working as an advocate for the City of Savannah, the 27th poorest city in the nation.

Thanks to Caine’s efforts, Georgia and the City of Savannah in particular, have received Millions of dollars from Washington—including support for the MLK, Jr. Blvd. Revitalization and Battlefield Park—as well as other beneficial legislative victories.

In 2000, Caine organized a drive to insure a fair and balanced redistricting process with the Colorado Democratic State Senate Caucus in conjunction with Rep. Mark Udall. Caine was selected to manage a targeted campaign that helped lead to the Democratic victory and end 50 years of Republican control. The Colorado Senate was the only state legislative chamber to switch to Democratic hands during the 2000 election cycle.

As the Chief Governmental liaison for the international economic development forum while living in abroad, Caine worked to facilitate the transfer of European industries and Jobs to Georgia, Kentucky and the Carolinas in projects similar to the Daimler-Chrysler plant proposed for Pooler.

During the ’95 and ’96 sessions of the Georgia General Assembly, Caine fought to increase quality teacher retention rates and achieve smaller classroom sizes throughout the state as an advocate for the Georgia Federation of Teachers and the Georgia Association of Health, P.E., Recreation and Dance Educators.

Caine is a member of the Savannah Chamber of Commerce and maintains a strong interest in the continuance of a thriving economy in Georgia. He is the Founder/President of the Coastal Empire Chapter of the Red Clay Democrats; the Founder/Ex-officio Chair of the Savannah Young Democrats and a member of the Historic Savannah Foundation and of the Civil Rights Museum. Caine is also a member of the governing board of the National Capital-United Nations Association Young Professionals Committee.

Caine attended the Phillips University School of Political Science in Marburg, Germany in 1996. Upon completing his undergraduate studies, he was then accepted by the top-ranked International Relations Graduate Program at Eberhard-Karls University for a Master of Arts and another M.A. in Geography and Sustainable Development.

Today, Caine continues his work as a Sustainable Energy developer and in the Agriculture and Transportation sectors, and will bring that experience to work for the people of the 12th district of Georgia as their next Member of Congress.

Fulfilling his love for the outdoors, Caine still finds time for his pastimes as a sportsman and conservationist; he is an avid clay/trap shooter and angler. Caine’s passion for mountain climbing also survives with a climbing resume that includes world famous peaks like the Matterhorn (CH) and Mt. Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in the western and southern hemispheres.
