| Info | Gloria Bromell Tinubu, Ph.D. is Chair & CEO of Bromell Tinubu Group LLC, a family business that specializes in family-centered economies and local economic development. She also serves as Founder and President of ItzBiz™, a member-owned business development cooperative that provides access to entrepreneurship education, strategic partnering and networking, and investment capital for households who wish to start or grow a family business.
She has held such leadership positions as college president, Chair of the Economics Department at Spelman College, member of the Georgia Board of Education, member of the Atlanta City Council, Atlanta mayoral candidate, member of the City of Atlanta Board of Ethics, member of the Commission for the Future of Clemson University, and CEO of Atlanta Cooperative Development Corporation, a city-created entity she founded in 1996 to plan and sponsor cooperatives.
A recipient of numerous honors and awards such as Who’s Who in Black Atlanta, Atlanta Business League’s 100 Most Influential Black Women, the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Most Influential Georgians, and Spelman College’s Fannie Lou Hammer Community Service Award, Dr. Tinubu has more than 30 years of experience as an applied economist and community scholar. Featured in Essence Magazine, October 2005, "Women Who are Shaping the World," Dr. Tinubu received her Ph.D. in Applied Economics and Master’s in Agricultural Economics from C1emson University and a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Howard University.
Natives of South Carolina and Nigeria, respectively, Dr. Tinubu and her husband, Soji Tinubu, Chief Engineer to the Toronto Transit Commission, have four adult children (Ayo, Titilayo, Femi, and Tayo) and one grandson, Ade.
