Info | Tanzie Youngblood is a longtime resident of Woolwich, NJ and a public servant who has dedicated her life to education and student-family advocacy. She earned a BA degree in History from Rosemont College; a MA degree in Elementary Education from Saint Joseph’s University; and a MEd degree in Educational Leadership from Cabrini University. With over 30 years of experience inside the classroom Tanzie has brought forth integrated solutions to student success through a direct and hands-on approach to both special-needs students and at-risk youth through coalition building between communities, children, families, and school leadership. She has been on the front lines with regards to comprehensive school reform and leadership training. Upon retirement, Tanzie has been researching recent developments in public school models, developing curriculum, and is also a sought-after educational consultant, and Reading Specialist.
Tanzie is running for the State Assembly because she understands that leadership is about listening to the needs of the people and responding to create better, safer, stronger neighborhoods. She will advocate for access to economic opportunity for all and believes that the role of a true leader is to watch over their community and secure the resources needed to maintain and sustain a good standard of living. “I understand my community and put a premium on the people who live in it. I believe that nothing is more important than a good quality of life that makes you feel safe and secure.”
Tanzie and her late husband Willie B. Youngblood, raised two sons Anthony (an active duty service member in the United States Navy is the Deputy Director of Mission Integration and Warfighter Support at the National Reconnaissance Office in VA.), Cameron (a chemist works as an international STEM program coordinator in Morocco, Poland, and Thailand), and has two grandsons Anthony Jr, and Ashton).
