Info | Abigail Spanberger has always served her country and community. And now she is running for Congress. Abigail took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. That oath didn’t come with an expiration date. When she saw partisan politics threatening the country she has worked so hard to protect, she knew it was her time to stand up for the people in the 7th District.
Abigail began her career of public service as a federal law enforcement officer working narcotics and money laundering cases with the US Postal Inspection Service. Following her love of country, public service, and languages, Abigail joined the CIA as an Operations Officer. She traveled and lived abroad collecting intelligence, managing assets, and overseeing high-profile programs in service to the United States. In 2014, Abigail left government service to begin a career in the private sector and bring her and her family back home to Virginia. Working at EAB – Royall & Company, Abigail helped colleges and universities to create diverse student bodies, increase graduation rates, and break down financial barriers to higher education.
Abigail grew up in Short Pump, in Henrico County. She attended J.R. Tucker High School’s Spanish immersion program, served as a Senate Page for US Senator Chuck Robb (D-VA), and graduated from the University of Virginia. After college, Abigail moved to Germany and earned her MBA from a dual-degree German-American program between the GISMA business school and Purdue University.
Abigail and her husband, Adam, live with their children in Glen Allen.

I’m sure the supposedly ascendant left would rather lose the House so long as they won primaries in Massachusetts and Manhattan.

A wrong take
Socialism did not lose those seats because Socialists were not IN those seats. If Socialism cost the seats, wouldn't the Socialists be gone and not the most Conservative Democrats in the House who ran on a strategy of being Republican-lite which literally cost the Democrats 4 Senate Seats in 2018.
The fact that is not being acknowledged AGAIN is what is gonna kill the Dem Party

Why would I be joking, I am 100% right. Lost 4 Senate Seats last election and losing a hell of a lot of House seats running on that strategy.
I mean since ur an R u'd benefit from Dems dying anyways, so that explains u 😂
I think the takeaway is more Marquita Bradshaws...
And a Conservative Dem would have won there then. Ok What about Phil Bredensen last time?

There are certain parts of the country where a populist message with a left-wing emphasis on government spending and economic opportunity can fly, even in places that voted for Trump. Semantics matter to people though, so you can't necessarily be a self-described socialist and expect to win. This is why people like Sherrod Brown and Gary Peters are in office.
"Defund the police" is even more problematic, since at that point candidates would either have to (a) defend the unpopular position of not having a police force, or (b) engage in semantic arguments over "defund the police" really not meaning defund the police but rather some nuanced reimagining of police resources. When anti-abortion advocates talked about "defunding" Planned Parenthood, they weren't making some pragmatic argument; they were being pretty clear about what they meant. It would behoove criminal justice reformists to understand the words they're using if they don't really mean what they say.

THIS.
I'm not sayin run on "Seize the means of production and end the bourgeoisie rule to save the Prolitariet", but running on ideas with 70% Approval is not gonna "kill our chances in 2022"

The places those arguments seem to work haven’t exactly propelled candidates through primaries outside of Massachusetts and urban areas, so where?

Not exactly. As he mentions some more Moderate-Left Populist folks like Sherrod Brown, Dennis Kucinich, and folks like even John Yarmuth can do well if you let them. Its an effort of getting the message out and getting that message to appeal to people. Even a lot of the Moderate Dems that won in 2018 understood that (and a couple of the ones who backed away have lost now). Go past the smears. Another thing is the Dem Party needs to stop shunning the Left Wing that is not incumbents.
It's not gonna work all the time and there are a lot more factors in play, but running on something will work better than running on nothing

I think Progressive policies can win but the message has to be sharper and clearer. As Rep. Marc Veasey said "if you're explaining, you're losing."

The vast number of Bacon/Biden voters in NE-02 would disagree.

I think the real thing we need to be having an angry, impassioned conference call over is how she got so many Hot Mama of the Year votes twice from the same people who gave me shit for calling Tzipi Hotovely hot.
