| Info | Brent Oleson was elected to his first four-year term on the Linn County Board of Supervisors in November 2008, and was re-elected in 2012 and 2016. Brent represents District 4.
In his role as Supervisor, Brent serves on the boards for the Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency, the Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the Marion Economic Development Company (MEDCO). He also serves on the US Highway 30 Coalition, the Linn County Fair Board, and the Linn County Gaming Commission.
Brent is active in and passionate about conservation, environment, and solid waste issues.
Brent represents Linn County in the Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) as a member of the Land Use and Rural Affairs Committee.
On the national level, Brent is a member of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Environment, Energy and Land Use Steering Committee.
Brent resides in Marion with his two children. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa (B.A. Political Science, Communications, 1995) and the University of Iowa College of Law (Juris Doctorate 2000).
Brent’s professional career includes his work as an attorney in the private practice of law, working in state government with the Secretary of State’s Office, the Legislative Service Bureau, and serving as Senior Legislative Counsel to the Majority (2006) and Minority (2007-8) Leader’s office in the Iowa Senate.
