Web Master: Andrew currently works as a Web Coordinator for the State of Minnesota. In that role, he serves as database engineer, programmer, and content manager on a website that provides timely information about issues critical to Minnesota's future. He works as a watchdog to ensure that public documents and data are not the private playthings of state bureaucrats.

Projects that display his technical abilities include:

* IssueWatch: Developed a database driven publishing tool to track emerging trends.
* IssueTalk: Implemented a discussion forum used by hundreds of Minnesotans to comment on energy policy and the budget shortfall
* Environmental Quality Board docket system: Created tool to ensure that the public is made aware of proposed energy facilities.
* Minnesota Milestones: Developed a web platform for displaying and mapping diverse socio-economic data and indicators.

Librarian: For four years Andrew managed the public policy research library at the Minnesota Department of Planning. He wrote the workplan that created a consolidated state agency library serving Minnesota Planning, Department of Employee Relation, and Intertech. Even after moving on to manage electronic information however, he was elected to the chair of the Capitol Area Library Consortium (CALCO), the coordinating board of Minnesota's 20 State Agency libraries.

Entrepreneur: Although proud to work as a public servant for Minnesotans, Andrew is committed to maintaining active in the private sector. He has started numerous profitable small businesses including Windfall Fancy Fungi, which sells mushroom growing supplies (see the Star Tribune, August 12, 1998 T1 for more details), and Exlibris Productions a research, web design, and consulting firm. Andrew also serves on the Board of Advisors (marketing and budget support) to Plowshare Community Farm- a Community Supported Agriculture project based in Wisconsin.

Education
Andrew began registering voters in 1986 while still a student at Highland Park Senior High School- the same year he served as Student Council President. He received his BA from St. Olaf College and his Master of Science in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also studied for one year at the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies in Oxford England, where he was an associate member of Keble College, the University of Oxford.

Community Action
Andrew lives in St. Paul's West End Neighborhood, where he has recently finished rehabbing an 1890s house. He has been elected twice to serve as Board President of the Minnesota Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance (www.bikeped.org), a 501(c)(3) non-profit, which manages a community bicycle resource center in downtown St. Paul that teaches youth and adults life and job skills.

He is an active community gardener and is proud to have been a volunteer planting supervisor for three years with Great River Greening, a project to reforest the Mississippi river valley with native plants.

Interests
To relax, Andrew enjoys playing the banjo, working with wood (he has built everything from Appalachian dulcimers to a Finnish sauna), fishing, and wrenching on bicycles. When his work commitments allow, he likes to strap a tent and panniers on his bicycle and go on extended tours. His major expeditions include Seattle to San Francisco (1997) and Oslo Norway to Barcelona Spain.(1999). He looks forward to doing as much campaigning as possible in 2002 from the saddle of his trusty Cannondale bicycle.
