| Info | Suzyn was born in Normal and grew up in Evanston. She learned early on from her parents the value of hard work and perseverance. Her father, Larry, started his career in journalism in the Marine Corps and her mother, Jeanette, worked at the American Hospital Association and State Farm. Suzyn attended Southern Illinois University where she got her Master’s Degree in American History.
Suzyn met her husband, Derke Price, while working with their church. In 1996, they settled in Naperville, where Derke was born and his family has lived for four generations. Derke is graduate of Wheaton college and Harvard Law. They have two children – Nicholas, 22 and Anne, 19.
She began her career working to provide social services to those most in need – including with Olive Branch Mission, Saint Leonard’s House and The Ounce of Prevention Fund.
Suzyn continued her career with a commitment to education, working in development at North Central College, the Illinois Mathematics & Science Academy and she is currently an adjunct faculty at the College of DuPage.
As a mother and active member of her community, Suzyn has been dedicated to providing a quality public education to Naperville’s families. She was elected four times to serve on the Naperville School Board and spent 13 years presiding over a board that administered balanced budgets and provided new and renovated facilities for Naperville’s education system – including an early childhood center.
Suzyn actively volunteers with Project HELP, an early childhood mentoring program. She is a member of the St. James Cathedral, Chicago.
