Info | A lifelong resident of Monmouth County, Edward “Ned” Thomson III was sworn in as assemblyman in August 2017, filling a vacancy created when David Rible became director of the state Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
A federally approved pension actuary since 1987, Thomson administers more than 500 pension plans working with employers to improve the retirement outcome of workers. He has spent more than two decades as a trustee of the state Public Employees Retirement System since 1995.
Previously, he was a Wall Township committeeman from 1998 to 2008, twice being elected mayor. He served on the Wall Township Planning Board from 1997 to 2007, and was reappointed in 2017. He was also a member of the Board of Adjustment from 1990 to 1997.
A volunteer pilot for Angel Flights, Thomson provides free trips for patients with serious illnesses for treatment at hospitals. He also annually volunteers for the Junior Olympics.
With three grown children, Thomson and his wife have been married for 32 years.
