InfoModesto is a local business owner residing in Hackensack for nearly forty years. During that time, he has established close ties with our community which explains why he was so convincingly elected to the Hackensack Board of Education where he formerly served. Modesto has completed studies in varied areas of interest including paralegal study, computer science and tourism among others, which allow him to provide assistance to residents who at times may have difficulty navigating through governmental bureaucracies and certain types of private companies. Many community residents have come to rely on him regularly as a problem solver for them and their families. Those daily interactions and his history on the School Board have motivated him to broaden his service to Hackensack in seeking a City Council seat.

Although Modesto endlessly interacts with residents from all backgrounds in the course of his business, he is very proud of his Dominican heritage. He has been an active part of our community since choosing Hackensack as his home in the early 1980’s and has also remained connected to his country of origin through his associations with various organizations. Modesto is a member of the Dominican Empowerment Foundation of New Jersey and holds the position of Financial Secretary of the Dominican Bar Association of New Jersey. He is also an active member and co-creator of Alianza Hispana U.S.A.

Like all Coalition for Clean Government candidates for City Council, Modesto is eager to serve every one of Hackensack’s more than 45,000 residents as their representative in local government. However, he believes he can provide a special connection for the Latino residents who come from many different Hispanic backgrounds and who feel that they have had no voice in City government for the past 8 years. Cities achieve their highest level of success when every group is engaged in the effort to move forward.

Modesto has a law degree from the Dominican Republic and a Master’s Degree in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University where he currently serves as an adjunct professor. He is active in St. Francis Church as a parishioner and as musical director of the Maria de los Angeles charismatic prayer group.

Modesto is married to Rosanna Romero. Their three children, Tracy, Hector and Anthony, were all born in Hackensack. Modesto is grateful for the opportunity of having raised his family in what he considers to be such a wonderful and diverse community and is eager to “hit the ground running” with his teammates as City Council members to make Hackensack fair, welcoming and affordable.
