A native of Washington, D.C., Blakey, 70, has been a Central Delaware resident for more than 40 years. He is a 1958 graduate of then-Delaware State College with a bachelor’s degree in physical education, and the University of Maryland at College Park with a master’s degree in physical education and administration.
Blakey has also been an education administrator, aviation pilot and instructor, DSC college baseball coach and instructor, county elected official, and theater director/performer.
He is a retired administrator for the Caesar Rodney School District, where he served for 31 years. Blakey has been the 5th Levy Court District (Camden, Woodside areas) commissioner since his initial election in 1988. He has previously served as Levy Court president.
