Info | As a devoted family man, a long term business owner, and a respected member of the city of Nampa, Idaho, Tom Luna has had the opportunity to serve his community on many occasions.
In 1995, Tom was elected to the City of Nampa School Board, where he served for more than six years. For three of those years, Tom served as Chairman of the Board and two years as Vice-Chairman.
In 1998, Tom was one of only ten Idahoans selected to serve on the Idaho Achievement Standards Commission. As a part of this commission Tom was instrumental in drafting Idaho's Achievement Standards. He then lobbied the Idaho Legislature on behalf of the Commission to adopt the Achievement Standards, which the legislature overwhelmingly approved.
Tom is now serving on the Idaho Assessment and Accountability Commission which is working to increase student achievement through accountability.
In addition to his educational commitments, Tom has also been a successful leader in the business community as the owner of an Idaho based manufacturing company, Scales Unlimited, Inc.
Tom realized his dream of business ownership in the early 1980's and through his vision and leadership has built his company into an international business. Tom was recognized by his peers when he was elected President of the International Society of Weights and Measures, a worldwide organization with thousands of members. As president of this organization, Tom traveled extensively, representing his industry worldwide.
Tom also plays an active role in his community. He is a member of the Nampa Exchange Club, serving as President in 2000. Tom is also an active volunteer in his church and in the Boy Scouts of America.
After graduating from high school, Tom attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho and Boise State University. Tom completed his college education at Thomas Edison State College.
Tom has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 22 years. Together they have six children ranging in age from 11 to 21.
