She is one of the state's leading advocates for victims' rights and has established an aggressive agenda during her tenure. She has restructured the Civil Division, and has centralized many legal services for the state. Attorney General Brady presented legislation that has changed the way Delaware deals with violent criminals, developed programs to help make our schools safer, and has worked to protect senior citizens from scams and frauds. Her initiatives have helped to make the criminal justice system more effective for the victims of crime and more responsible to the public.

Her Task Force on Child Victims developed an action plan to better meet the needs of Delaware's most vulnerable population, and most of the recommendations of the Task Force have now been adopted by lawmakers and agencies. As a result of the work of her Task Force on Animal Cruelty and Interpersonal Violence, significant changes to Delaware's animal cruelty laws have been effected. Brady's Elder Abuse and Exploitation Project merited national attention by the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging. The Attorney General testified before the Senate Committee in May 2002 regarding her programs to address the financial exploitation of the elderly.

Attorney General Brady is a lifelong Delawarean and has lived and worked in all three counties. She graduated from Christiana High School, the University of Delaware and Villanova University School of Law. From 1977 until 1990, she earned a reputation as a tough, but fair-minded, prosecutor with the Department of Justice, culminating with three years of service as Chief Prosecutor in Sussex County. Brady entered private practice in 1990, where she remained until her election as Attorney General in 1994.

Attorney General Brady serves on the Executive Committee of the National Association of Attorneys General, and the Board of Directors for the National District Attorneys Association. She is a past Chair of the Republican Attorneys General Association. The Attorney General is also a member of the Board of Directors of the National Organization for Victim Assistance. Brady is an active Rotarian, sits on the Board of Directors for the Delaware Children's Trust Fund, the Board of Directors for the Kent/Sussex Industries, and serves on the Advisory Board for Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Sussex County. She is also the founder of KINfolk, a non-profit agency that provides free computers and Internet accounts to children facing long hospital stays, enabling them to keep in touch with family and schoolwork. Jane is married to retired Delaware State Police Captain Michael E. Neal. They reside in Lewes, Delaware.
