Born in Helensborough, Scotland, where her father, Stephen Piggott, was training people to build marine turbine engines for ships.
Graduate of the Glasgow College of Art, 1932
She met Kefauver on a blind date in 1934 while visiting relatives in Tennessee, and they were married on 8/8/1935.
She was very active in the various Kefauver campaigns, and in 1956 Sen. Kefauver called her "my special secret weapon."
After her husband's death, she became a consultant in the fine arts for the State Department.
Collapsed while attending a dinner in honor of U.S. Sen. Everett Dirksen in the Mayflower Hotel, Washington DC and died, 11/20/1967. Pronounced dead about 9:00 p.m., EST.
