Info | TELLER, Ludwig, a Representative from New York; born in New York City (Borough of Manhattan), N.Y., June 22, 1911; educated in the public schools; graduated from New York University in 1936 and from the law school of the same university in 1935; was admitted to the bar in 1936 and commenced the practice of law in New York City; expert consultant to Labor Relations Board, War Department, in 1942; trial examiner, New York State Labor Relations Board, 1942-1946; served as a senior lieutenant in the United States Navy as communications officer in Atlantic convoy, and as labor relations officer, Ninth Naval District, Chicago, Ill., 1943-1945; lieutenant commander, United States Naval Reserve; served on the faculty of New York University Law School 1947-1950 and professor of law at New York Law School in 1950; member of the State assembly 1950-1956; elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-fifth and Eighty-sixth Congresses (January 3, 1957-January 3, 1961); was unsuccessful for the Democratic nomination in 1960 and also for election as a Liberal candidate to the Eighty-seventh Congress; resumed the practice of law in New York City until his death October 4, 1965; interment in Union Fields Cemetery, Jamaica, Queens County, N.Y.
