InfoShane Morigeau has committed his career to fighting back against the rich and powerful to protect Montanans — as a lawyer, legislator, and the next state auditor of Montana.

Shane was born and raised in Ronan, Montana. He lives in Missoula with the love of his life, his wife Jamie. He’s a hunter and angler, a proud Salish and Kootenai member, and a University of Montana Law School alum. Shane built a career using his law degree and advocacy background to hold politicians and corporations accountable.

Before earning his law degree at the University of Montana and a master of laws at the University of Arizona Law School, Shane spent his summers fighting fire, obtaining his pilot’s license, and earning a Bachelor of Science in resource conservation. He began his career as an advocate and attorney representing the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. In this role, Shane was a leader in the effort to pass Medicaid expansion in 2015, securing affordable and accessible health care for 1 in 10 Montanans.

Portrait of Shane
As a state legislator, Shane has spearheaded legislation to make healthcare more affordable, protect public lands, and invest in educational opportunities. He wrote and passed the Montana Promise Act, a bill that will provide grant funds to students so they can attend 2-year colleges and help fill Montana’s health care, tech, and trade jobs.

As House Minority Whip, Shane worked across the aisle to pass some of the strongest protections for child sex abuse victims and for students abused in our schools that Montana has ever seen. He also partnered with Republican colleagues to pass Montana’s first blockchain legislation, providing clear accountability for tech companies looking to start businesses in the state, while protecting consumers from fraudulent investment opportunities.
