InfoEarl Ray Tomblin (born March 15, 1952 in Logan County, West Virginia) is the current President of the West Virginia State Senate. He represents the 7th West Virginia Senate District based in Logan County. Tomblin is a member of the Democratic Party. Recent legislation has also given him the title of Lieutenant Governor of West Virginia, but the state constitution still makes no mention of the office and the honorfic is rarely used outside of formal occasions.

Sen. Tomblin was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1974, and reelected in 1976 and 1978. He won election to the Senate in 1980 and has been subsequently re-elected every four years thereafter.

Tomblin was elected on January 11, 1995, as the 48th President of the West Virginia Senate. He was reelected in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005. He is the longest serving Senate President in West Virginia's history. Tomblin became the first Lieutenant Governor of West Virginia in the state's history in 2000.

Sen. Tomblin is the son of Earl Tomblin and Freda Jarrell Tomblin. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Marshall University. Tomblin was married on September 8, 1979 to Joanne Jaeger, and they have one son: Brent Jaeger.

Tomblin is a self-employed Businessman and former school teacher. He resides in Chapmanville, West Virginia, with his wife, Joanne. They attend the First Presbyterian Church of Logan.
