InfoGreg Nibert was born in Roswell, New Mexico on January 3, 1958. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico in 1980 and received a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Pepperdine University in 1983.

Greg is active in the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico (President in 2011-12) and the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association. He is a member of the State Bar of New Mexico, Chaves County Bar Association, New Mexico Landmen’s Association, and American Association of Professional Landmen.

Greg was first elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives in 2016 where he served as the Republican Whip in the House. He now serves as the Senator for District 27. He was named legislator of the year by the New Mexico Rural Water Association in 2017.

He has worked with the United States Congress on several federal issues and testified before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee regarding the Valles Caldera Preservation Act and has worked to secure the passage of the Pecos National Historical Park Land Exchange Bill that will allow a land exchange to preserve the Glorieta Battlefield in Santa Fe County.

He and his wife, Carolyn, have two adult sons, Greg Jr. and Jeff. They attend Country Club Road Church of Christ where Greg is a deacon and frequent Bible teacher.
