Chairman, Committee on Civil Service (Sixty-ninth Congress), Committee on Education and Labor (Sixty-ninth and Seventieth Congresses), Committee on Interstate Commerce (Seventy-first and Seventy-second Congresses)

Philanthropist; died in Detroit, Mich. Entombed in mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit, Mich.
