Infoborn in Brandon, Fond du Lac County, Wis., June 16, 1901; attended the public schools and Lawrence College, 1919-1921; graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Commerce in 1924; was associated with his father in the lumber, feed, and coal business 1924-1938; entered the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1938 and graduated in February 1941; was admitted to the Wisconsin bar and commenced practice in Black River Falls, Wis., the same year; chief clerk of the Wisconsin assembly 1935-1939; with State banking commission in 1942; district attorney of Jackson County 1943-1946 and again in 1953; delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in 1952 and 1960; elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-third Congress, by special election, October 13, 1953, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Merlin Hull; reelected to the six succeeding Congresses and served from October 13, 1953, to January 3, 1965; was not a candidate for reelection in 1964 to the Eighty-ninth Congress; died in Augusta, Wis., July 24, 1975; interment in Brandon Cemetery, Brandon, Wis.
