| Info | My name is Alex Acevedo, and I’m running for Alderman because I love this community. I am a husband, father, and son who was born and raised in the 25th Ward. My wife, Juliana, and I are proud to be raising our daughter in the 25th Ward.
I’ve lived in this community my whole life and have seen massive change both good and bad. Growing up, I played in our parks and went to local public schools with great teachers.
As a pediatric nurse and community organizer, I’ve spent the last 10 years delivering mobile health care to seniors and those with disabilities, providing public safety workshops, and organizing youth programs to keep kids off the streets. I love the people of the 25th ward – but we need a 21st century leader who will speak up for all of us around issues like education, public safety, innovation, city services, protecting small businesses, and environmental justice. I believe that an Alderman must be an active citizen-leader, held accountable by the citizens they serve.
I look forward to engaging with the entire community over the coming months. I am open to all ideas and input and can’t wait to meet you. Please get involved with the campaign – come to an event, help us knock on doors or make phone calls. We are a grassroots effort and can only do this together. This campaign is about bringing us all together and embracing the incredible diversity and community that already exists in the 25th ward.
