Info | Kevin O’Reilly was elected to the 18th Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories representing the constituency of Frame Lake.
Mr. O’Reilly was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and has resided in Yellowknife since 1985, where he has worked for Aboriginal, federal and territorial governments and agencies on land use planning, environmental assessment and resource management.
Mr. O’Reilly served as a Yellowknife City Councillor from 1997 to 2006. Most recently, he was the Executive Director for an environmental oversight body at the Ekati diamond mine.
Mr. O’Reilly holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies and a Master of Arts in Planning from the University of Waterloo.
Mr. O’Reilly was the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for his work on Giant Mine and the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Medal in 2002 for his research on the postal history of northern Canada.
Mr. O’Reilly is married with two youths studying at universities in southern Canada. He is an avid gardener, hockey player, photographer and postal historian.
