InfoI have been blessed in life to have had a very supportive family and many amazing mentors to help me succeed in life. I am a third generation Coloradoan, born and raised in Brush, CO with Spanish, Mexican, and Greek heritage. I moved to Denver in 1989 and earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Zoology and Chemistry from Metropolitan State College of Denver. As a Colorado Trust Fellow, I graduated summa cum laude from Regis University with a Master of Arts degree in Nonprofit Management. I have been very involved in the Far Northeast community for the past 25 years.

I met my husband, Scott Gilmore in a Denver park teaching children how to fish in 1994. His family has lived in Montbello for 40 years, Jacob and Hatsue Gilmore instilled in their sons, Jake, Vincent, and Scott to work hard and give back. Scott graduated from Montbello High School in 1982. He now serves as an appointee of Mayor Michael B. Hancock as the Deputy Executive Director of Denver Parks and Recreation. Scott and I have been homeowners in Montbello for the past 21 years and have three amazing children, Sterling-22, Samantha-20, and Serenity-14. Over the past decade our children have all attended Marrama Elementary School in Green Valley Ranch, where we have been active parents serving on the Collaborate School Committee (CSC). Our family lives by the motto, “to those whom much is given, much is expected”.

In 1996, sitting around our kitchen table, Scott and I co-founded the nonprofit, Environmental Learning for Kids (ELK). ELK cultivates a passion for science, leadership, and service in a diverse community of learners. After 22 years of steady and strategic growth, ELK programs are nationally recognized in their work to engage and educate youth about science and the outdoors, introducing them to careers, and making sure they have the support they need to graduate from high school and go on to college.

In 2008, ELK began to plan for a home in our community and in 2010 embarked upon a $6.2M community campaign to purchase, create an open space park, and build a 6,000 sq. ft. education center on a 5.5 acre parcel of land off of Albrook Drive in Montbello. I am proud that our work has led to the creation of one of the newest open space in Denver. ELK’s carefully laid plans for creating a home in the heart of the community we serve are becoming a reality. The ELK Education Center will be an anchor for the Montbello, Parkfield, Green Valley Ranch, and High Point neighborhoods as a resource-rich destination for youth and families.

I am proud of my life’s work and am honored to serve as the Councilwoman for District 11. My strengths of bringing people together, listening, and creating bridges will ensure that District 11 residents have the jobs, education, and community that we all deserve!

Since being elected, I have been honored to serve in leadership roles on City Council advocating for our community.

Elected and currently serving as President Pro Tem of City Council - 2018;
Chair - Business, Arts, Workforce, and Avian Services (BIZ) committee - 2015 to July 2018;
Chair - Workforce and Economic Development Working Group - 2016 to 2018;
Board member Denver Preschool Program;
Board member and President Pro Tem 2019 - Urban Drainage and Flood Control District;
