InfoMartin Ferris is Sinn Fn TD for Kerry North and party spokesperson on Agriculture and Rural Development and Marine and Natural Resources. He has been outspoken in highlighting the need for a co-ordinated strategy to re-build rural communities which have become depopulated over the last decade due to a lack of government strategy and the ongoing withdrawl of essential services.

He was elected to Kerry County Council and Tralee UDC in 1999 and to Leinster House for the constituency of Kerry North in 2002. As the party's EU candidate for Munster in 1999 he received almost 30,000 votes. He is playing a key role in the development of the party across the country.

Martin is a member of the Sinn Fin's Ard Chomhairle (National Executive) and part of the Sinn Fin negotiating team and participates in party delegations which meet with the Irish and British governments. He has travelled extensively in support of the peace process.

Martin Ferris is forty six years old and is married with six children. He has been an active republican since 1970 and has been jailed for his political beliefs in the 1980s.
