Woody Jenkins is running for the 6th Congressional District in Louisiana. Woody has represented Baton Rouge for almost 30 years by serving as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1972 to 2000.

He was one of youngest legislators in state history and was named "Outstanding State Legislator in America" by the National Taxpayers Union for his strong opposition to tax increases.

Woody authored more than 300 major bills that became law, including Free Enterprise Education Act, Teacher Proficiency Act, Baton Rouge Community College, TOPS, and tax cuts totaling over $3 billion. As Chairman of the House Committee on Labor, Woody has shown proven leadership in Louisiana's State Capitol.

After Woody left the House of Representatives, he continued to serve the region as Editor of 3 regional publications including the Central City News, Zachary Post, and the South Baton Rouge Journal. For his work as an editor, Woody was honored for "General Excellence" by the LA Press Association and named to the LSU School of Journalism Hall of Fame. Woody was also Founder and current Chairman of WBTR-TV, Channel 19 in Baton Rouge.

Woody has been married for 40 years to Diane Jenkins and is the father of four children, Margaret, Elizabeth, David and Catherine.
