| Info | A native rural Pennsylvanian, Christian Muniz spent a year as an exchange student in Monterrey, Mexico after graduating from high school in 1987. He later served 6 1/2 years in the US Navy as a Cryptologist, graduating from the Defense Language Institute (Russian) in 1990. He served at duty stations in California, Texas, Florida, Washington DC, and Rota, Spain. After service through the end of the Cold War and the first Gulf War, Christian was honorably discharged at the rank of E-5 in 1994.
Christian graduated from Dickinson College in 1998 with a B.S. (cum laude) in International Studies, and minors in History, Spanish, and Political Science.
Since 1998, Christian first worked in the private sector as a government affairs specialist in Harrisburg and now serves on the staff of Rep. Jeffrey W. Coy (D-Cumberland) as a legislative aide. In his current position he handles direct constituent matters, drafts and tracks legislation, and assists Rep. Coy with his duties as the fourth ranking member of leadership in the Democratic House Caucus.
In 2002, Christian was the Democratic candidate for the State House of Representatives, 199th legislative district and remains active in the Cumberland County Democratic Committee.
In Carlisle, Christian serves on the boards of the Amani Committee, Inc, the Carlisle NAACP (Education committee), the Carlisle Health and Wellness Foundation's Behavioral Health Taskforce, and on the Bosler Library Board of Trustees. He is a founding member of Good Schools PA (Cumberland County chapter), the Carlisle Bike/Skate Union, a member of the Carlisle Exchange Club, the Cumberland County Farm Bureau , and the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
Christian has family throughout northeast Pennsylvania and in Hopewell Township, Cumberland County. He is engaged to Holly Junghanel and will be married in summer 2004.
