| Info | Elected 1991, Alderman Hart-Burns is a graduate of Edison College. She is the Chairperson of The Government Operations Committee for the City of Aurora and has served since 1991.
Alderman Hart-Burns served on the Finance Committee as a member since '91-'95 & as an alternate from '95 - '95. She is also on the office committee for the Alderman's Office. Alderman Hart-Burns currently serves as an alternate for the Planning & Development Committee.
Alderman Hart-Burns is happily married to William F. Burns & is a mother of 5 adult children: Malik, Kehinde, Hakim, Amina, & Ahmad (deceased) and other sons Michael, Vernon, & Arvin Burns.
She will be up for re-election in 2017.
Service and Community Involvement
Alderman Hart-Burns organized Taking Back Our Community (TBOC), Inner Circle Neighbor Group, Forest Ridge Tenant Council, Eastwood Tenant Council, Maple Terrace Tenant Council, Chairperson Circle of Wise Women for the Kane County Health Department, Chairperson Weed & Seed with the Kane County States Attorney Office and has help with several Aurora Food Pantries, Quad County Urban League Board Member and Adviser for 33 years, Marie Wilkinson Child Care Center Board Member and Adviser for 18 years, started the City of Aurora first coat drive in 1995, Member of LULAC, and Founder of the Back to School Bash at Martin Luther King Park.
Alderman Hart-Burns is an Evangelist Missionary at Greater Mount Olive COGIC.
