InfoGrowing up in a military family, I’ve had many unique opportunities; one was to live in a third world country. In the course of one afternoon, I could see the glaring difference between another nation’s struggles and American exceptionalism. It was through this experience that I developed a deep sense of patriotism. As long as I can remember, I have been so grateful for all the opportunities we have as Americans. This sense of opportunity has driven me to get involved in community service where I can, and share some of the many blessings I have been given.

I graduated from Chugiak High School in 1994. I went on to attend UAA, and while working full time, and raising a family, I earned Bachelor degrees in Justice and History, as well as an MBA, with an emphasis in Finance, from Columbia Southern University. I have spent the majority of the past 20 years in the private sector, and I have been responsible for building and managing multi-million dollar businesses right here in Alaska. In addition to my current position on the Anchorage Assembly, I am responsible for the overall management, business development, and operations for a corporation with multiple locations in Alaska.

My husband, Ben, and I have raised our children with the same sense of patriotism, dedication to service, and work ethic that I saw growing up. Our daughter, Kennedy, is a Freshman at the UAA, and our son, Riley, is a Freshman at Chugiak High School. As a family, we love to spend our time at our cabin in Willow, hunt, fish, and volunteer in our community.

For more than 20 years, I have volunteered in the community. I have been the President of the Chugiak Community Council, the Chair of the Municipal Budget Advisory Commission, the Mayor’s appointment to the Chugiak-Eagle River Parks & Recreation Board of Supervisors, and currently serve on the Alaska Commission on Judicial Conduct, as well as an active member of the Sleeping Lady Lions Club.

As an Anchorage Assembly Member, I serve on the Municipal Budget and Finance Committee, Municipal Audit Committee, Community Council Committee, Title 21 Committee, Joint MOA-Matsu Borough Transportation Subcommittee, Ad Hoc Committee on Alcoholism, Drug Abuse and Homelessness, and Chair the Remand Subcommittee in the Eberhardt vs MOA case.

I take my role very seriously on the Assembly, and I don’t wait for others to lead. I do my homework, ask tough questions, and am willing to take a stand no matter how difficult it may be personally. I truly believe that I understand our community, I know the issues, and whether it is in my capacity as an Assembly Member or the Mayor, I will continue to be a common sense, clear, and stoic voice for the residents and taxpayers of Anchorage. I believe the fundamental role of government is to provide public safety, build and maintain infrastructure, and provide our children with the opportunity for a quality education; in order to do this we must have a government that has a fiscally sustainable budget and is accountable for every dollar they spend.

I am committed to ethical leadership, and will ensure the people’s voice is the loudest in the Mayor’s office; you will never take a back seat to special interests. I am so grateful for the outpouring of support and encouragement, and would be honored if you would consider me as you cast your vote for the next Mayor of Anchorage. Together, we really can make a difference.
