| Info | Samuel C. Newby is a native of Jacksonville, Florida whereas he completed William Marion Raines High School and later earned his under-graduate degree from Edward Waters College.
Sam's professional focus has been dually served in both corporate leadership as well as, community based organizations. He has been actively involved with the community for over 30 years with multiple organizations. He was a highly esteemed employee with PepsiCo for over 30 years, served as president of the Joseph E Lee Republican Club, chairman of the Johnson Family YMCA, chairman of the Republican Party of Duval County as well as the co-founder and chairman of the Florida Assembly of Black Republicans. A motivator and mentor, Sam coached recreation sports at the Johnson YMCA for several years and turned around the lives of several at risk youths, who have gone on to become successful business men and women.
Over the years, Sam has focused on promoting the establishment and patronage of local business, driving education and advocating for safer streets. The experience that he has acquired has given him a greater understanding of what needs to be done to make Jacksonville a stronger city. The same experience defines his 6 point strategy for the city: safer communities, more job opportunities, fighting blight and neglect, improved infrastructure, quality neighborhood schools, and protecting at-risk youth.
He was elected to the Jacksonville City Council in May 2015. Sam serves on multiple boards and committees. He has been the recipient of several accolades for his work with youth, as well as, the community. More importantly he has a strong passion for the city and is familiar with the needs of all areas of town and is committed to moving the city to the next level.
Through all of his accomplishments Sam is a humble man who takes pride in being a man that has strong relationship with God. He believes strongly in the significance of having a relationship with God, family, church and friends. Sam is a proud father of two and grandfather of three.
