Rep. Michael Diven was first elected to represent the 22nd Legislative District in 2000.

Diven graduated from Brashear High School in 1988. In 1993, Diven graduated from Duquesne University with a bachelor's degree in history.

Diven was the youngest person ever elected to Pittsburgh City Council when he won election in 1997 at age 27. He represented the city's 4th District.

Diven is board member of the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority, and served as chairman of the City of Pittsburgh Public Safety Services. He is a past president of the South Pittsburgh Housing Task Force. Diven is a former board member of the Brookline Area Community Council and the Penn State Allegheny County Cooperative Extension.

In 2005, Diven will serve on the Aging and Older Adult Services, Game and Fisheries, Health and Human Services and Urban Affairs committees.
