InfoPamela Reaves-Harris is serving her first term as State Representative of Illinois' 10th District. A proud mother of two daughters, Pamela has built her career and her family on strong community values.

Pamela's legislative priorities include standing up for middle-class families in Chicago. She supports increasing the minimum wage to help put hard-working families on a path to a living wage. She will be an advocate for our children and work to protect school funding in the state budget because she believes that every child in our state deserves the opportunity to receive the best education, regardless of their background or where they live. Pamela will work to ensure the state budget protects needed funding for early start programs and child care.

In addition to strengthening education, Pamela is devoted to bringing more well-paying jobs back to our community to help put local residents back to work. She is committed to addressing the fiscal challenges facing Illinois and will work to pass a balanced budget by increasing state revenue and reducing wasteful spending. She is committed to fiscal responsibility, fully funding the state's pension systems, and making sure the state pays its bills – all of which will help employers look to Chicago and Illinois as a place to create and retain good jobs.

Pamela understands our communities need leaders who will put the needs of local residents first. To reduce crime and recidivism in our communities, Pamela will make examining the state's criminal justice system a priority while protecting funding for mental health and ex-offender job-training programs.

Born and raised in Chicago's Cabrini Green public housing development, Pamela is a graduate of the Chicago Public School system and the youngest of eight children. She received a Bachelor of Science degree with a dual major in Marketing and Economics from the University of Illinois. She then earned her law degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law.

As a licensed attorney for more than 22 years, Pamela has dedicated her life to serving the community and has provided free legal services to those in need. With more than 15 years of experience working as an Administrative Law Judge, she has seen the negative effects of poorly drafted laws. She is focused on creating comprehensive legislation to help bring more common-sense reforms to Illinois. She is a member of the Cook County Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.
