| Info | eff DeWit is a successful investment professional and has devoted over 21 years of his life to maximizing returns while minimizing risk in the financial markets, and being a prudent custodian of the funds that were entrusted in his care. His career has taught him that a strong work ethic, a focused vision, and the determination to succeed are traits he will bring with him to the Treasurer’s office.
He has a degree from USC in Business Administration with a minor in Finance. He also has an accounting degree. Jeff started his career in finance in 1992 at one of the largest brokerage firms in the country, moving up quickly to become one of Smith Barney Shearson’s youngest fully licensed investment professionals. He then became a market maker in financial futures contracts as one of the youngest Full Members of the CME as well as a full member of the Chicago Board of Trade. In 1999, Jeff started a company called ECHOtrade, and during his 14 years as CEO grew the company to over 500 licensed professional traders worldwide with total volume in excess of a billion shares traded a month. He created one of the first software platforms that enabled floor traders to make electronic markets away from the trading floor, and developed some of the best real-time risk management software and algorithms.
