Elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives from Martin County as a Democrat in 1954, 1956, and 1958.
He was a North Carolina politician and farmer. He was elected to three terms in the state house from Martin County (1955-1959). Everett endorsed Richard Nixon in 1968 and changed his registration to Republican. He then was a Republican candidate for US House in the 1970 midterm election. He suffered a heart attack during the campaign and was forced to scale back his events. He died on 7/24/1974.
