|Info||A native son of Louisiana, an educator, a lifetime seeker of knowledge, a man committed to helping his neighbors, and most of all a dedicated father; Henry Herford was born in Richland Parish in 1955. He grew up in East Texas, where his father worked for the SUN Pipeline Company, and his mother was a Nurse. Henry spent his summers learning the value of a dollar, working in the oil fields of East Texas and Delhi, Louisiana. Henry moved back to Louisiana after graduating from Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas to attend Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education in 1979. Henry then received his Louisiana Teaching Certificate; he has since made a career instructing and imparting knowledge to several generations of young minds. |
Henry has continued his formal education off and on for most of his life. In 1987, he earned a Masters of Education from Mississippi State University. In 2011, he returned to Louisiana Tech to earn a Rural Economic Development Certification; focusing in Rural Economic Development and Grant Writing. He has continued his graduate level studies at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, focusing on subjects such as business, finance, marketing, management, and real estate.
Henry has been an active member in his community. Henry is a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He has been involved in the local democratic process since 1985; holding positions on Parish level Republican Executive Committees, State level positions on the Republican State Central Committee, and being elected as the Chairman of the 2012 Louisiana Republican State Convention.
Henry is the father of four daughters and grandfather to one grandson. He raises cattle, horses, and mules on his Farm in Delhi, Louisiana. He is also a licensed Realtor.
